Rosa Loves… Sharing a few snapshots of her week.
Here’s a few photos I took in the last week:
I attended my friend Anne’s beautiful wedding at the Woodrow Wilson House in Kalorama/Dupont Circle. I loved that the museum was opened during the reception and I was able to learn some interesting facts about the 28th President of the United States.
Lani and I had dinner at Jaleo and then went to...

Rosa Loves… A Friday afternoon in Georgetown.
Life has been a little busy and I really needed a break from work. So on Friday afternoon after finishing a few things in the lab, I got on the metro to meet Sara and we headed to Georgetown. First on the agenda was a Danielle Nicole presentation at Cusp. I was able to finally meet the fabulous handbag designer in person and I totally fell...

Rosa Loves… To share some random thoughts and photos of pretty flowers.
My favorite camera lens broke on Saturday and I had a minor freak out when that happened. I love playing with my camera and I try to challenge myself a bit but lately I’ve been going through a very comfortable phase. I found a lens that I love and settings on my camera that work so I’ve been a little...

Rosa Loves… Ladies Lunch at Proof.
There’s nothing better than catching up with some of the most fashionable ladies in DC over lunch. Right at the end of the conference I attended, Carla, Sara and I went to Proof for some great food and a lovely chat. I had the sautéed potato gnocchi, which I always order it because it’s kind of amazing (and I kind of wished I had a plate...

Rosa Loves… A relatively quiet weekend with Lola.
Sometimes all you need is a weekend at home and that’s what I did. I spent most of our time at home, relaxing and enjoying the company of my little Lola. Luckily, I didn’t plan much for the weekend except for running a couple of errands and a low key brunch with friends. The rest of the time was spent drinking Italian...

Rosa Loves… Macarons as the perfect conference snack.
The conference I attended was a bit long; five days of science are awesome, but sometimes there’s so little time in between talks that it’s hard to get a snack. So when I heard that DC Patisserie would be at the Artisans’ Market at Williams-Sonoma the weekend of my conference, I made a quick stop on my way to pick up a friend who was staying...

Rosa Loves… Science, Friends & Brunch.
And I’m back.
Let me tell you, it has been a busy couple of weeks but I am glad to be back blogging. I really missed it. Anyhow, I had a lot of fun at the conference I attended last week. Last Saturday, I got on the metro and went to the Convention Center in downtown DC for the first round of scientific talks. My first day at the...

Rosa Loves… High Heeled Traveler’s Lipstick Chart.
I recently attended a garden party at Jamie’s home to celebrate the launch of her magazine High Heeled Traveler. The party was fabulous and we got a chance to explore her incredibly gorgeous apartment. Jamie’s taste is impeccable and I love the combination of vintage and modern pieces she has throughout the place. While admiring her...

Rosa Loves… Pink.
I think I am going through a bit of a pink phase. Lately, I’ve been incorporating more color into my outfits with bright pink blouses and accessories. Also, pink has been my preferred color when picking flowers for my apartment. I don’t know if the crazy weather we’ve had is responsible for the sudden craving of pink, but I kind of love it.

Rosa Loves… Fashionistas, Macarons & Shopping on a Sunday.
We had an amazing time at our Madewell event this past Sunday in Georgetown. Everyone found something perfect to add to their spring outfits and the different choices of chambray shirts were a big hit. Even my friend Lacey in NYC called the store to do some shoe shopping. The macarons from Macaron Bee were...

Rosa Loves… Tiny bows and crafts.
I truly admire people who are talented when it comes to crafts. It takes creativity, an eye for detail and most importantly, patience. I am not your DIY kind of girl. Yes, I love to crochet but when it comes to cards and other crafts, I usually just go to the store. However, I really wanted to add a personal touch to some of the decorations for an upcoming...

Rosa Loves… Lola staring out the window.
I snapped this photo of Lola last weekend while we were relaxing at home. She was sitting on her favorite chair and was staring out the window for a long time. She does this often. I always wonder what she might be thinking: Is it Science? Is she planning on how to take over the world? Is she keeping an eye for a possible zombie attack? Is she thinking...

Rosa Loves… The amazing accessories at Charm Georgetown.
I love brunch. I love accessories. I love blogger friends. Fortunately, this past weekend I was able to combine all of those things when I went to a brunch hosted by Natalie and Erika of the Fashionably Broke and Cheralee of Miss Lyle Style at Charm Georgetown. When I walked into the boutique, I thought I’d died and...

Rosa Loves… French Toast & Shopping in Georgetown.
I honestly cannot believe this weather. We had some snow and cold temperatures a few days ago and then this weekend it felt like spring had arrived. I’m not complaining. On the contrary, I loved it and took full advantage of it by spending my Saturday in Georgetown. I had brunch with the lovely Ashlyn at Cafe La Ruche. In my...

Rosa Loves… An interview with handbag designer Danielle DiFerdinando.
A few weeks ago, I was supposed to attend a preview for the Danielle Nicole Spring 2013 Handbag Collection but because of that evil cold I had, I sadly missed the event. Luckily, Danielle DiFerdinando, the fabulous designer behind the brand, was incredibly nice and agreed to an interview over the phone. I really...

Rosa Loves… A lovely chat and donuts on a Sunday morning.
On Sunday morning, my friend Jane came over to my place to spend some time with Lola and me. She knows my weakness for sweets so she brought lemon glazed donuts from Palena. Over coffee and donuts we talked about our work projects and our plans for when the warmer months arrive. Inspired by the pretty daffodils in my table, we...

Rosa Loves… Coming home after a long day.
Yesterday was a long day but I have to say that coming home to a super cute doggie was the best thing in the world. We spent our evening together cuddling in the couch reading magazines and working on a post for next week. Of course Lola got a couple of very long belly rubs and she was a happy girl.

Rosa Loves… Shoe shopping in DC.
I love flats. I walk pretty much everywhere so comfortable shoes are a must for me. One of my favorite places for shoe shopping is Sassanova, a wonderful local store that carries a great selection of shoes and always has the best sales. A few weeks ago, I decided to visit the store and I found a pair of Jacques Levine blue flats that I’ve been...
Rosa Loves… A little sparkle on a rainy day.
I’m back. As you probably noticed, I took a little break due to a terrible cold I had right before Valentine’s day. I am feeling much better now and I have lots of ideas for the blog in the upcoming weeks.
It’s raining in DC so I’ve been drinking coffee and staying warm under the covers with my Lola. However, I have a...
Rosa Loves… Valentine’s Day!
My husband and I are planning to spend a lot of quality time this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Dinner at home and going to the movies to catch the latest chapter of the Die Hard series are part of our agenda and we can’t wait.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Rosa Loves… An afternoon at the museum.
My friend Anne and I decided to spend our Saturday afternoon at The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. It was a very cold and windy day so a trip to the museum was a great way to stay warm and catch up with my friend. We were particularly interested in the Ai Weiwei: According to What? exhibit and I have to say that it was amazing....
Rosa Loves… To share some recent snapshots.
Not much has been happening in the last couple of weeks but let me share some snapshots of what I’ve been up to:
I took a long lunch break and explored the new Red Hue boutique location in Gaithersburg.
After my big presentation, I had cocktails with Ashley and Morgan at Cesco in Bethesda.
I attended the launch party for Nomaterra’s DC...

Note: If you are interested in a pair, here’s the link to Junghwa, the Etsy store I got them from. These earrings also come in gold and are...

Rosa Loves… Year Two.
Two years ago I decided to start a blog. I had a lot of ideas, a wonderful city to write about, and of course a fabulous model (Lola). My husband came out with a name for the blog and a tumblr page was born.
I never thought that I would have the opportunity to meet such great people and make incredible friends because of this blog, it’s just been wonderful. I...

Rosa Loves… Preparing for a big presentation at work (or does she?).
Please raise your hand if you have a fear of public speaking. If you didn’t, that’s awesome. If you did, I feel your pain.
I don’t consider myself to be a good public speaker. Standing in front of an audience is terrifying. Over the years, I had to get over my fear because of my job. I am a scientist...

Rosa Loves… Snow in DC.
The snow didn’t stop me from taking a much needed coffee break at the Starbucks near work this afternoon. It was nice to step away from my desk for a few minutes and enjoy a walk in the snow. For some strange reason, the snow put a big smile on my face today. I guess sometimes it’s the little things that make us happy.
Have a wonderful weekend and...

Rosa Loves… Fabulous placemats.
I was at West Elm the other day to do a some research on rugs and as I was waiting for the sales lady to help me, I spotted these fabulous placemats. I just couldn’t resist the geometric print and I knew they would look fabulous on my breakfast counter. My home decor is very neutral and but I always like to add a fun print or a little color here and...

Rosa Loves… A Low Key Pre-Inauguration Weekend.
It’s Inauguration Day and there were a lot of events around the city in preparation for such an important occasion. However, I decided to have a pretty low key weekend for myself:
I treated myself to a fabulous bouquet of tulips after picking up some antibiotics for a sinus infection on Friday evening.
On Saturday, I met Alison of...

Rosa Loves… Incredibly Cute Mini Lipsticks.
My friend Jane knows I love lipstick and for the holidays she gave me a great gift: a set of mini lipsticks by BITE Beauty. My favorite colors were Pomegranate (red) and Shiraz (a soft plum). The set also included a pretty pink (Fig) and a light pink-brown (Musk) which are perfect for work and daytime wear. To be honest, I rarely wear nude...

Rosa Loves… Mexican brunch on a foggy day.
Sunday was a foggy day and very warm by January standards. I got up super early to get all the laundry done and by mid-morning, I was on the metro on my way to meet Ashlyn for brunch at Oyamel. Rosa Loves… Fashion Books and Pretty Roses.
My first full week at work in 2013 has been a busy one. I’ve been planning new projects, attending numerous meetings, preparing for upcoming presentations, and learning new lab techniques. Rosa Loves… Faux Fur, Leopard, and Sparkle.
The weekend went pretty fast. My main goal was to run errands and to get organized. Nothing too exciting but it had to be done since we had just come back from our holiday trip....

Saturday was a busy day. I started my morning by packing for our holiday trip but I took a break for brunch. Rosa Loves… Snowflakes and Holiday Cards.
Last weekend my apartment was covered in snowflakes, not real ones but crocheted ones that I made for this year’s holiday cards. Since Sunday was a rainy day, I worked on my holiday cards...

Rosa Loves… The Perfect Cotton PJs.
I needed to finish my Christmas shopping and that meant I had to schedule a trip to Target last week. Target is a dangerous place and I know you all agree. My strategy works...
