Rosa Loves… Deviled eggs & French toast after a fashion show.

I started my day very early on Saturday because I had errands to run before meeting Liz. A couple of weeks ago, we had found out that Kara was hosting a fashion and beauty trend event at Neiman Marcus and we thought it would be something fun to do. After the fashion show, we were super hungry so we headed over to Ardeo+Bardeo in Cleveland Park. I love this place for brunch, it never disappoints. I decided to try the deviled eggs and the French toast this time and both dishes were equally delicious. Liz is quite the foodie and loves to take photos of her meals just like I do; we had a great conversation about photography, food, and life in DC.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

Rosa Loves… Mini Donuts & Champagne.

I love brunch and a couple of weekends ago, I think I might have overdone it a bit. I hadn’t seen some friends in a while so I scheduled brunch dates on Saturday and Sunday. It was awesome. I met Ashlyn and Faith at NoPa Kitchen + Bar that weekend and our brunch involved champagne and a sampler of mini donuts, which included churros with chocolate sauce, vanilla donut holes with mascarpone cream, and chocolate donuts with caramel sauce. Diagnosis: Delicious! No, wait, incredibly delicious! I honestly think that donuts and champagne are a fabulous combo, especially when spending time with these ladies.

DC Event Alert: The DC Meet Market starts again on Saturday, April 5th in Logan Circle and it is a great family event. I’ve been before and I love it. It features some of my favorite local vendors, including Baked & Wired and Diament Jewelry as well as local artist Kelly Towles. Click on the button on the right column for more details.

Rosa Loves… Waffles, bacon & mimosas.

We got a bit of a break from winter on Saturday here in DC. After getting 7 inches of snow earlier in the week, we were able to enjoy a beautiful spring day. Carmen, Rebecca, and I decided to take full advantage of it and had brunch at B Too. We even got a table outside; the weather just couldn’t be more perfect. Over waffles, a mini bucket of bacon, and mimosas, we had a lovely chat about consignment shopping and the possibility of more snow this week. Oh well, we can’t wait for spring to arrive and stay here for good.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather too.

Rosa Loves… Mimosas, brunch bites, and jewelry at She’s Unique Boutique.

Before the snow arrived on Sunday afternoon, the fabulous Katya of Spicy Candy DC celebrated the second anniversary of her jewelry store She’s Unique Boutique with a brunch party. There was a mimosa bar and delicious brunch bites prepared by Jessica of Adventures of the Repatriate. The jewelry selection at the store is amazing and the pieces are just gorgeous. Some of my friends were at the party too so we all did a little shopping. I took home a pair of very sparkly earrings to add my jewelry collection.

Thanks Katya, Carlis, and everyone at She’s Unique Boutique for such a great time.

If you’re ever in DC, She’s Unique Boutique is only a metro ride away in Alexandria, VA. Jennifer Zeuner, Phyllis + Rosie, Julie Voss, and Kris Nations are among the brands found at the store. It’s totally worth the trip!

Rosa Loves… Impromptu brunch and shopping.

I had made several plans for the weekend but on Friday afternoon, it all changed. My husband got sick so he had to stay in bed most of the weekend. We also trying to decide about moving apartments in the same building so I spent most of my Saturday morning dealing with that. While my husband got some much deserved rest, I arranged a quick meeting with Ashlyn for a photo shoot and a chat. When I met Ashlyn, she was hanging out with Cathy and we all went for a little shopping at Zara and Forever 21. Let me just say that we all have similar taste and purchased the same perfect fall weather accessory. We were also getting a little hungry so we headed over to Poste and over mimosas, eggs benedict, and truffle frites we had a great chat about pretty much everything. I think we spent close to 3 hours at Poste but it didn’t feel like it at all because we were having such an awesome time. I truly enjoyed my impromptu brunch and shopping with these fabulous ladies.

Rosa Loves… Dim Sum Brunch & a Photography Exhibit.

Saturday brunch is the best so when Liz mentioned that The Source had a fabulous Dim Sum menu for brunch, I couldn’t resist and booked a reservation almost immediately. My husband and I had an amazing time tasting all the wonderful dishes while chatting about a possible celebrity sighting and other important matters like Lola. My husband was also intrigued about all the activity outside the building facing the restaurant (you can see its reflection in my cocktail glass in the first photo). Upon further investigation (thank you Google Maps) it turned out to be the DC Labor Department and Marriage License Bureau. Good to know. Anyhow, after our delicious brunch, we walked over to the Smithsonian American Art Museum to check out the photography exhibit A Democracy of Images. Great food and inspiring photography made for a wonderful Saturday.

And here’s the list of the delicious dim sum dishes (and cocktail) we had at The Source (from top to bottom):

(1) Tiffany Twisted, a brunch cocktail with Champagne, Aperol, and St. Germain Liqueur

(2) Singapore Style Noodles

(3) Duck Bao Buns

(4) General Tso’s Wings

(5) Tuna Tartare Miso Cones

(6) Crystal Chive Dumplings

(7) Scallion Pancakes

(8) Pork Belly Pot Stickers

(9) Orange Pudding

Rosa Loves… A sugar overload at the beginning of the month.

Yep, I think I might have overdone with the sugar last Saturday when Rebecca, Carmen, Julie (Table for Two Blog), and Julie (Julip Made) met at Matisse for one of our blogger brunches. As you might recall, I shared some awesome beignets with the ladies. Though my first thought was to order something savory for my entrée, I just couldn’t resist the temptation of something sweet so I ordered the Brandied French Toast. What can I say? I just love sweets, especially French toast.
