Rosa Loves… Science, Friends & Brunch.

And I’m back.

Let me tell you, it has been a busy couple of weeks but I am glad to be back blogging. I really missed it. Anyhow, I had a lot of fun at the conference I attended last week. Last Saturday, I got on the metro and went to the Convention Center in downtown DC for the first round of scientific talks. My first day at the conference wasn’t too busy so I took a little break to meet with the lovely Ashlyn for brunch and mimosas at The Hamilton. After, I went back home to run some errands and then headed back to the Convention Center for more talks and to catch up with old friends who were in town for the conference. Overall, I think that science, friends and brunch are a pretty good combination, don’t you think?

Rosa Loves… French Toast & Shopping in Georgetown.

I honestly cannot believe this weather. We had some snow and cold temperatures a few days ago and then this weekend it felt like spring had arrived. I’m not complaining. On the contrary, I loved it and took full advantage of it by spending my Saturday in Georgetown. I had brunch with the lovely Ashlyn at Cafe La Ruche. In my opinion, Cafe La Ruche has some of the best French toast around (it’s not on the menu, you just gotta ask for it). After our brunch and a quick outfit photo shoot, we went shopping at some of our favorite stores. I got a super cute peplum top at Madewell and Ashlyn found the softest stripe tee at Anthropologie. Brunch and shopping in Georgetown was indeed a fabulous idea on such a lovely day.

Rosa Loves… Mexican brunch on a foggy day.

Sunday was a foggy day and very warm by January standards. I got up super early to get all the laundry done and by mid-morning, I was on the metro on my way to meet Ashlyn for brunch at Oyamel. We hadn’t seen each other for a couple of months so we had a lot of catching up to do. Though we text each other frequently, it’s always nice to spend a little time together especially if mimosas and churros are part of the equation. By the way, the order of churros was so large that I had to take most of them home. I had some for dinner last night while watching the Golden Globes and I packed the rest as part of my lunch today.

Hope you all had a fabulous Sunday!

Rosa Loves… A sparkly and glittery day.

Saturday was a busy day. I started my morning by packing for our holiday trip but I took a break for brunch. I met my friend Sara of High Fashion for Less and the lovely KAR of Blue Rooms White Houses at Scion in Dupont Circle. Over mimosas and a giant plate of huevos rancheros, KAR told us about her interior design adventures and we got to know her a bit more. We met briefly at the last Blogger Blitz DC a few months ago and I just love her fabulous blog. For brunch, I decided to wear my favorite lace top and instead of my signature statement necklace, I went with my sparkly heart ring.

After brunch, I ran some errands and when I got home, I packed some more. My husband and I went for a quick dinner that evening before heading over to a cocktail party organized by Ashley of Ashley in DC and her boyfriend Trevor. It was the first time I’ve been to her place and it is gorgeous. There was a champagne bar with all the ingredients needed for guests to make their favorite sparkling cocktails and that was kind of awesome. Also, aren’t those glittery bow drink toppers adorable? They certainly put a smile on my face every time I took a sip of my cocktail. We loved meeting some of Ashley’s friends and we even had the opportunity to chat with some of my favorite bloggers from the area (Hi Alissa and Morgan)!

As you can see, my Saturday was very sparkly and glittery and I was able to spend time with some old and new friends before going to visit the family for the holidays.

Rosa Loves… A morning in Georgetown.

I recently spent a wonderful morning in Georgetown. My friend Jenn was in town and it was a great opportunity to go to brunch at Bistro Francais and to catch up. Our friend Rhea also joined us and it was so good to see them both. Rhea ordered a delicious almond tart for dessert and we ended up sharing it over an extra cup of coffee. I met these ladies a few years ago and it was all because of our J.Crew love. Of course, after our brunch we visited our Mothership to do some holiday shopping. Since I was in Georgetown, I decided to stop by Baked & Wired to pick up some cupcakes that I could eat while watching some TV shows at home later. The weather was beautiful, I got to see some friends, and I ate some great food. So yes, my morning in Georgetown was a fabulous one.

Rosa Loves… Fried Chicken, Bacon & Donuts.

My husband and I met some friends for a post-Thanksgiving brunch this past weekend at Tabard Inn (Hi Kata, Sara and Sam!). As I was going over the menu, I couldn’t resist and I went with the buttermilk fried chicken on a biscuit which also came with bacon and a sunny side-up egg. Just one word: AMAZING. We also had some fresh donuts which are a must when visiting Tabard Inn. Luckily, I didn’t go into a food coma and that was kind of important because we had some shopping to do after. I had such a great time and I am seriously thinking about starting a new tradition: post-Thanksgiving brunch at Tabard Inn followed by holiday shopping with fabulous friends.

sunday brunch outfit

Rosa Loves… Her Sunday Brunch Outfit.

I love Sunday brunch and this past weekend I met my fashionable friend Lani and her super cute baby at Dino for Nutella-stuffed French toast and mimosas. When I was putting together my brunch outfit I knew I wanted to wear my sparkly Forever 21 necklace, which has become a bit of a signature piece in my wardrobe. It took me a few minutes to browse through my closet and then I decided to go with my favorite polka dot blouse and a wool striped sweater. I have to say that I was very satisfied with my outfit because it combines all things I love: polka dots, sparkle, and stripes.

Rosa Loves… Brunch and the City.

On Saturday morning I decided to go for a walk around Dupont Circle. It was a little chilly and breezy but I loved it. I truly enjoy walking around the different neighborhoods in DC in the fall. After my lovely walk, I met some blogger friends at Urbana for a brunch organized by the fabulous Ashley of Ashley in DC. While indulging on yummy food (I had the egg white frittata) and the Bellini bar, I was able to chat and catch up with some of my favorite bloggers in the area. And of course a blogger brunch wouldn’t be complete without a few Outfit of the Day photo shoots.

Thank you Ashley for such a great time and the super cute party favors!
