Rosa Loves… Tiny bows and crafts.

I truly admire people who are talented when it comes to crafts. It takes creativity, an eye for detail and most importantly, patience. I am not your DIY kind of girl. Yes, I love to crochet but when it comes to cards and other crafts, I usually just go to the store. However, I really wanted to add a personal touch to some of the decorations for an upcoming party. I decided to make cute little tags and while at the craft store, I saw some pretty pink ribbon and I thought: tiny pink bows would be adorable. Awesome idea, right? Well, the bows are adorable but the process of making them was more complicated than I expected. I am a perfectionist. After 3 hours of work, a through quality control process and a National Treasure movie marathon, I had a sea of tiny pink bows ready for my tags. Obviously, that was not the end of the project as I still had to attach the bows to the tags and that took a few more hours. Like I said, the process took longer than I had planned but it was worth it. All it took was patience, a lot of patience.

Rosa Loves… Snowflakes and Holiday Cards.

Last weekend my apartment was covered in snowflakes, not real ones but crocheted ones that I made for this year’s holiday cards. I spent a few weeks working on these crocheted snowflakes and last Friday it was time to starch, iron and add a little ribbon to complete the process. Since Sunday was a rainy day, I worked on my holiday cards and right before sealing the envelope, I included one of my snowflakes. I love adding an extra personal touch to my holiday cards and because of it, I started my annual crocheted snowflake project a few years ago. It’s always fun to pick a different color and design (you can see the one from last year here) and I know my friends and family enjoy getting the ornaments year after year. Now, let’s hope we get some real snowflakes for Christmas.

Rosa Loves… Sparkly Necklaces.

During a recent trip to Forever 21, I took a quick peek at their jewelry display and found a necklace that seemed to have a lot of possibilities. However, I wasn’t too crazy about the chain fringe on it (you can see the original necklace here) but I could see the sparkly potential. Since the price was right, I took it home and after removing all the unwanted chains I now have a beautiful new necklace. It’s the perfect size, not too big, not too small, and just the right amount of sparkle. I’m thinking about adding a string of pearls when I wear it out on the town soon.

Rosa Loves… Holiday Cards and DIY Projects.

One of my favorite things about this season is to receive and give holiday cards. A few years ago, I began adding a little crocheted snowflake ornament to my cards for a more personal touch and it has become a tradition. I love deciding on the color and design of my snowflakes every year and I know my friends and family enjoy getting them in the mail. Do you have any holiday traditions of your own?

Rosa Loves… A day full of DIY projects and indoor activities.

On Saturday as I woke up, I found myself with no plans and with a husband out of town. So I decided it would be a great day to stay indoors and do a few activities including some DIY projects. I opened my balcony, got a couple of blankets out and I just chilled all day long. Here’s a few pictures of my day:

  • I drank mimosas and ate some cinnamon twist bites I got at the farmer’s market while reading the latest issues of my favorite magazines.
  • Earlier in the week, I had gotten supplies to make friendship bracelets so when I finished reading my magazines, I made as many of these sparkly accessories as I could. If you want to learn how to make these awesome bracelets, go to one of my favorite sites Honestly… WTF for a detailed tutorial.
  • Lola slept a lot and got a little frustrated when I wouldn’t let her have any of my bubbly.
  • I wrote some birthday cards for friends and I sealed them with the DIY glitter tape that I made following instructions from a recent post in the Glitter Guide

So that was my Saturday. What kind of activities did you do this weekend? Share in the comments, I would love to hear about your weekend too.

Rosa Loves… Crochet projects.

I learned to crochet from Grandma who used to work on her projects and crafts every night while enjoying her favorite TV shows. And just like her, I worked on this baby blanket while watching re-runs of Sex and the City and Project Runway.

Enjoy your weekend!
