Rosa Loves… The perfect weather for a day in Georgetown.

After a few days of rain and incredibly high levels of humidity, which were responsible for my ‘crazy hair’ last week, we finally had gorgeous weather this weekend. I got up early on Sunday morning and after watching a couple of episodes of ‘Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown’ with my husband, I was on my way to Georgetown to meet Arlita of Rock and Sole for brunch. Since the metro is kind of unpredictable on the weekends, I ended up arriving earlier than expected to my destination. Luckily, Olivia Macaron was open so I stopped by to say hello to Ana Claudia, the owner of the shop, and to get some tasty macarons for a birthday gift. Once I met Arlita, we decided that since the weather was just perfect, a table outside at Peacock Cafe was a fabulous idea. Over cocktails and eggs Benedict, we had such a great conversation and we were able to learn a little more about each other. We then walked around Georgetown for a bit on our way to a Sweet & Spark Party and admired the beautiful houses in the neighborhood.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend too!

Rosa Loves… Wine tasting with the girls.

I love wine and my Sunday outing to some local wineries couldn’t be more perfect. Ashley, Julien, Maria, and Natalie planned an awesome wine tasting tour in Virginia for a fabulous group of ladies which included Alicia, Amanda, a second Amanda, Carmen, JoAnn, Katya, Kendall, Kristin, Marissa, Morgan, and Tammy

Our first stop was Stone Tower Winery. Mike Huber, the owner, was incredibly kind and gave us a private tour of the facilities and explained their wine making process. He also showed us the vineyards and I was able to snap a picture of the tiny baby grapes (second photo). The wine tasting at this place was also lovely. My favorite wine was their 2009 Wild Boar Blanc de Blancs. Yes, kind of predictable, I went for the sparkling wine. After spending a couple of hours at Stone Tower, we got on the bus and headed to Hillsborough Vineyards. Some of the ladies participated in the wine tastings while others, including myself, decided to get a couple of bottles of wine and enjoyed some of the snacks we all brought to share. I truly enjoyed their 2011 Chardonnay and it was perfect with the strawberries I had bought at the farmers market the day before. It was hard to go back home to be honest; we were just having such an amazing time. We all decided we need to go back soon.

Thank you Ashley, Julien, Maria, and Natalie for organizing such a fun wine tasting outing. And make sure to check out the blogs of some of the ladies who came to the tour; there were a lot of ‘outfit of the day’ photos taken that day.

Rosa Loves… Brunch with one of our favorite DC bloggers.

Blogging has given me the opportunity to meet awesome people. One of them is the lovely Wave of Pich and Roor. Honestly, it’s so hard not to love her; she’s funny, sweet, and has an incredibly kind heart. On Saturday, a group of friends and bloggers got together for brunch at Bistro La Bonne to say goodbye to Wave as she is moving to NYC. We spent nearly 3 hours at brunch; clearly everyone wanted to spend as much time as possible with this fabulous lady before her move. After an epic selfie, we all said our goodbyes. While we are sad to see her leave DC, we cannot wait to hear all about her new adventures in NYC.

We’ll miss you Wave! DC will not be the same without you. NYC is really lucky to have you.

Rosa Loves… The Weekend.

I was so happy when the weekend finally arrived because I had made plans to catch up with some of my friends. Before meeting my friend Anna on Saturday, I was running errands around Penn Quarter. I suddenly got caught in the rain so I took refuge at the National Portrait Gallery which was kind of perfect because I love this place and I was able to snap some test shots for an upcoming photo shoot. Once the rain stopped, I had brunch with Anna at Poste. She’s one of my very first DC friends and we always have wonderful chats when we get together. On Sunday, I knew I would be running around town a bit, so I went with a comfortable outfit, but I added a little sparkle of course. After a quiet walk around Georgetown and a quick cupcake stop at Baked & Wired, I had breakfast with my friend Liza at Kafe Leopold. I hadn’t seen this lady in a while and it was so good to catch up. I then got on the metro and headed to Fairfax, VA to visit the new Anthom store, which was founded by three fabulous DC friends, Carla, Ashley, and Marshall. While browsing the store, I had a lovely conversation with Ashley and Marshall and I got a gorgeous silver ring. I decided to pretend Lola gave it to me as a Mother’s Day gift because she’s the sweetest dog ever. Overall, I think my weekend was pretty awesome because I was able to see some friends and to visit a few of my favorite places and restaurants in DC.

Rosa Loves… Waffles, bacon & mimosas.

We got a bit of a break from winter on Saturday here in DC. After getting 7 inches of snow earlier in the week, we were able to enjoy a beautiful spring day. Carmen, Rebecca, and I decided to take full advantage of it and had brunch at B Too. We even got a table outside; the weather just couldn’t be more perfect. Over waffles, a mini bucket of bacon, and mimosas, we had a lovely chat about consignment shopping and the possibility of more snow this week. Oh well, we can’t wait for spring to arrive and stay here for good.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather too.

Rosa Loves… Fabulous friends, beautiful weather, and yummy macarons.

The weather on Saturday was gorgeous and because of it, my friend Katie and I decided to spend some time in Georgetown. We hadn’t seen each other in a while so it was a great opportunity to catch up and meet my friend’s super cute baby girl for the very first time. But before meeting with Katie, I made a quick stop at Billy Reid to say hello to my friend Liza. Then, Katie, baby and I did a little shopping at J.Crew and Madewell followed by a delicious brunch and bottomless bubbly at Bistro Francais. We also visited a relatively new macaron shop in Georgetown, Olivia Macaron, and we fell in love with the red velvet and rose flavors. Katie also got vanilla and she said it was divine. While in Georgetown, I got a totally random text about the weather from Cathy only to realize that we were right next door to each other so I got to briefly say hello to her as well. Overall, it was nice to be out and about, meet fabulous friends and eat some yummy macarons. Lola also enjoyed the weather on Saturday. After I got home that afternoon, we went for a long walk and she spent about an hour outside in the balcony working on her tan.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.
