Rosa Loves… Waffles, bacon & mimosas.

We got a bit of a break from winter on Saturday here in DC. After getting 7 inches of snow earlier in the week, we were able to enjoy a beautiful spring day. Carmen, Rebecca, and I decided to take full advantage of it and had brunch at B Too. We even got a table outside; the weather just couldn’t be more perfect. Over waffles, a mini bucket of bacon, and mimosas, we had a lovely chat about consignment shopping and the possibility of more snow this week. Oh well, we can’t wait for spring to arrive and stay here for good.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the warmer weather too.

Rosa Loves… Fabulous friends, beautiful weather, and yummy macarons.

The weather on Saturday was gorgeous and because of it, my friend Katie and I decided to spend some time in Georgetown. We hadn’t seen each other in a while so it was a great opportunity to catch up and meet my friend’s super cute baby girl for the very first time. But before meeting with Katie, I made a quick stop at Billy Reid to say hello to my friend Liza. Then, Katie, baby and I did a little shopping at J.Crew and Madewell followed by a delicious brunch and bottomless bubbly at Bistro Francais. We also visited a relatively new macaron shop in Georgetown, Olivia Macaron, and we fell in love with the red velvet and rose flavors. Katie also got vanilla and she said it was divine. While in Georgetown, I got a totally random text about the weather from Cathy only to realize that we were right next door to each other so I got to briefly say hello to her as well. Overall, it was nice to be out and about, meet fabulous friends and eat some yummy macarons. Lola also enjoyed the weather on Saturday. After I got home that afternoon, we went for a long walk and she spent about an hour outside in the balcony working on her tan.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Macaron flavors in the photo above (from top to bottom): Almond, Red Velvet, Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Pistachio, and Lemon.

Rosa Loves… A photo shoot with my favorite DC ladies.

A few weeks ago, Apollina, Katalina, Sara and I went to brunch to Ted’s Bulletin. I love these ladies; they are fun, sweet, and caring. While I was snapping some photos of Sara’s outfit for her blog, Apollina and Katalina decided to share their professional photo bomber skills. I then took some photos of all these ladies together and as always, it was so much fun. However, it was also bittersweet. We realized that it would be our last impromptu photo shoot together as Apollina is moving to Texas. I am incredibly excited for Apollina and her super cute family and I know they will love their new city and home. She’s going to be missed but we know that she’s only a plane ride away.

We love you Apollina!

Rosa Loves… Brunch with the girls at Oyamel.

On Saturday, I had brunch with some of my friends at Oyamel and it was the perfect way to begin my vacation. I’ve been very busy with a project at work over the last couple of months. All the graphics and slides are ready to go for the presentation, which is scheduled in a few weeks, so I decided to take some time off to relax before I have to tackle the next challenge. I am exhausted but happy that the bulk of the project is done. And what is the best way to start a vacation? Meeting with some fabulous friends. For brunch we ordered some mimosas (I had a Pina Colada version and it was divine) and I had the Chilaquiles with Chorizo which I totally recommend. I think I am off to a good start in terms of the food for this vacation.

Thanks Ashlyn, Carmen, Erica, and Rebecca for such a fun time!

Rosa Loves… To share a few random thoughts.

Last week felt like the longest week ever. Experiments in the lab didn’t work as expected and an old arm injury resurfaced. However, once the weekend arrived, I decided to put those issues behind and enjoy time with my friends and little Lola. I met with Casie for Happy Hour on Friday before a much needed haircut and then on Saturday I had the most honest talk I’ve had in a long time with my girl Apollina over mimosas and brunch. I also treated myself to some pretty roses I found at Trader Joe’s and had an incredibly lazy Sunday morning. I think I just need a little more quality time with Lola and a couple of action flicks this afternoon before starting a new week.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Rosa Loves… To play tourist for a day.

This past weekend, Amber and Karin were visiting DC from the Midwest and I was super excited to show them around the city. Before meeting the girls on Saturday morning, I went for a walk around downtown. Sometimes, I completely forget about all the great places and buildings around the city, so I mostly walk by them and never take a minute to admire their beauty. For example, this stunning red door near the White House. I always walk by it and think “I should snap a photo of it, oh wait, I can’t, I have to catch the bus or I’m running late to meet someone”. However, this time I took a moment to finally get a picture of it. I also snapped a few photos while walking around with the ladies and when we visited the Newseum. I was tired by the end of the day (I’m getting old) but I have to say that it was incredibly fun to play tourist for a day.

Rosa Loves… A flower arranging party at Ashley’s.

Sunday afternoon was great. The lovely Ashley of Ashley in DC organized a flower arranging party at her place and it was so much fun. Every guest brought some of their favorite flowers to share with the rest of the ladies. We drank mimosas and ate some delicious food while working on our lovely flower arrangements and at the end of the day, everyone took home beautiful bouquets. Such a fabulous idea Ashley!

By the way, how cute are those white chocolate covered cherries? I just love the gold sparkles and they were so delicious too.

Rosa Loves… Sharing a few snapshots of her week.

Here’s a few photos I took in the last week:

  • I attended my friend Anne’s beautiful wedding at the Woodrow Wilson House in Kalorama/Dupont Circle. I loved that the museum was opened during the reception and I was able to learn some interesting facts about the 28th President of the United States.
  • Lani and I had dinner at Jaleo and then went to see the documentary ‘The Tents’ at Bethesda Row.
  • After a stressful week at work, I went for a walk on Saturday morning to relax. Luckily, I returned home just in time before the rain arrived.
  • I couldn’t get enough of my new striped shirt and it was part of my Sunday outfit (of course, I added a little sparkle).

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Note: Shirt is from J.Crew and necklace is from BaubleBar.
