Rosa Loves… A relatively quiet weekend with Lola.

Sometimes all you need is a weekend at home and that’s what I did. I spent most of our time at home, relaxing and enjoying the company of my little Lola. Luckily, I didn’t plan much for the weekend except for running a couple of errands and a low key brunch with friends. The rest of the time was spent drinking Italian sodas, eating cookies, watching movies, and doing a little photography.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Rosa Loves… Lola staring out the window.

I snapped this photo of Lola last weekend while we were relaxing at home. She was sitting on her favorite chair and was staring out the window for a long time. She does this often. I always wonder what she might be thinking: Is it Science? Is she planning on how to take over the world? Is she keeping an eye for a possible zombie attack? Is she thinking about her modeling career? Or is she figuring out a plan to escape the house and get a chili half-smoke from Ben’s Chili Bowl?

Now tell me, what do you believe your pets think when they are staring out the window? I know some of you (Hi Chloe!) have some theories already.

Rosa Loves… Coming home after a long day.

Yesterday was a long day but I have to say that coming home to a super cute doggie was the best thing in the world. We spent our evening together cuddling in the couch reading magazines and working on a post for next week. Of course Lola got a couple of very long belly rubs and she was a happy girl.

Rosa Loves… Infinity scarves and an unexpected model.

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the opening of the Ulysses Room, a collaboration between The President Wears Prada, DeNada, and artist Kelly Towles. It was a wonderful party and I was even able to do a little shopping. I had been searching for an infinity scarf and the DeNada knits at the studio were just perfect. It was difficult to pick just one, but I was happy with my choice. And so was Lola as she tends to gravitate towards anything soft and cozy.

Here’s what happened the weekend I decided to take some photos to show you how beautiful DeNada scarves are:

  1. After a few test shots and I thought about getting a different lens so I went to get it from the living room.
  2. In my absence, my tiny chihuahua thought that the scarf was incredibly comfortable so it was the perfect place to take a nap.
  3. I walked back into the bedroom a few minutes later and I found Lola falling asleep on top of my scarf.

So that’s how she became an unexpected model for DeNada.

I love my new scarf, it goes with all my coats and jackets, and I just hope the winter arrives in DC soon so I can wear it more.

Rosa Loves… A very busy Saturday.

My Saturday was indeed busy. I had been struggling with a mild cold during the week but I was feeling much better by Saturday morning so I picked a comfortable outfit for all the activities I had planned.

I met my friend Sara for a quick lunch and to catch up after running a few errands in the morning. Kata joined us later for a styling session. We had so much fun putting outfits together and I must say that Carrie Bradshaw would be incredibly jealous of Sara’s closet. On our way to the Drewdrop DC clothing swap later that afternoon, Sara and I stopped to take some outfit photos in Dupont Circle. While we waited for the event to begin, I was able to briefly chat with other lovely blogger friends including Carmen, Ashley, and Erica. After the swap, we went to the Ulysses Room launch party which was hosted by The President Wears Prada, DeNada Design, and Kelly Towles. I just fell in love with the space, the art, and the beautiful DeNada scarves.

On the metro ride home, I thought about how wonderful it was to spend time with friends and to meet great people during my Saturday activities. It was a busy day but I loved it.

On the other hand, Lola had a very relaxing day at home. I snapped this photo of her while she was looking at a sock she had stolen from my fresh laundry earlier that morning. I think she was trying to decide between playing with that sock or taking a nap. She went with the nap and it was a very long one.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

In case you are interested in the J.Crew items featured in my outfit, both sweater and necklace are still available online.

fall 2012

Rosa Loves… The beginning of fall.

I just wanted to share a few snapshots of the beginning of the fall season:

  • A coworker asked me to go for a coffee break and even though it was raining, I couldn’t say no. There’s nothing better than a warm cup of coffee on a rainy fall day.
  • I recently went for a walk around downtown DC wearing my favorite leopard loafers. I never get tired of walking around DC, I just love the city.
  • We got our first pumpkin and Lola decided to stand right next to it until I took a photo. I guess she is now an expert model who doesn’t want to waste a good photo op.

I hope you all enjoy the fall weather and have a fabulous weekend.

the leopard bow tie

Rosa Loves… Bow ties.

I recently asked Eliot of Accoutre to make a couple of bow ties, one for my husband and one for me. I had seen his metallic leopard bow tie before and I thought it would be perfect for one of the nerdy Thirst DC events. After receiving my order, I recruited Lola as a model. We had our photo shoot on a sunny afternoon and here’s how it all happened:

1. The leopard bow tie ready to be worn by Lola. Isn’t it gorgeous?

2. While snapping a few test shots, the model attempted to take a bite out of the bow tie. It was a close call.

3. After about an hour, Lola realized that she looked really good in a bow tie and got very comfortable wearing it. What can I say? She loves to be fashionable and leopard really suits her. Also, she doesn’t want Honeybear, Eric’s cat, to be the only pet rocking the nerdy look in DC.

Would you wear a bow tie? How would you style it? Share in the comments.

Rosa Loves… A two-day marathon of her favorite TV show.

I loved this weekend. It was extremely hot and we stayed indoors most of the time, but there was a two-day marathon of the Walking Dead. It was the perfect time to get some stuff done around the apartment while watching some awesome television. Woohoo!

On Saturday morning I ran errands and picked up some supplies to prepare for a weekend full of zombies. Cupcakes and other baked goods were top priority on my list. You might be thinking, ‘wait, there’s only cheesecake in these photos’. Well, it was so hot in DC that the icing on the cupcake melted by the time I got home. I had planned accordingly and Frosting (the bakery I visited) was my last stop, but the heat was so intense that it didn’t matter. Fortunately, the cheesecake made it just fine and while the cherry cupcake didn’t look pretty anymore, I still ate it and it was delicious.

Since the second season of the show was focused on searching for Sophia (if you watch the show you know what I’m talking about), I got some Sofia sparkling wine. In my opinion, bubbly is essential for a TV show marathon specially on a hot day.

Lola is also a fan of the show because we get to sit on the couch and spend time together. She really enjoys napping next to me when I am watching television. She spent a lot of time in that pillow and loved it.

And that’s how Lola and I survived the heat wave this past weekend. What activities did you plan to escape the heat? Did you stay indoors? The pool? Share in the comments.
