dc patisserie

Rosa Loves… Macarons as the perfect conference snack.

The conference I attended was a bit long; five days of science are awesome, but sometimes there’s so little time in between talks that it’s hard to get a snack. So when I heard that DC Patisserie would be at the Artisans’ Market at Williams-Sonoma the weekend of my conference, I made a quick stop on my way to pick up a friend who was staying in Bethesda. While the macarons didn’t last long, they were indeed the perfect snack for the first few days at the conference. By the way, my favorite one was Cherry Blossom of course, but they were all equally delicious.

the sweet lobby

Rosa Loves… Dangerously delicious macarons.

My friend Kata surprised me with a box of macarons from The Sweet Lobby at the beginning of last week. Kata knows me too well and my sweet tooth so I must say that it was the perfect way to start my week. These local macarons are not only pretty but also dangerously delicious because once I started eating them, I couldn’t stop. Thank you Kata, you are an amazing friend.

If you are visiting DC in the near future and are a macaron lover just like me, you must visit The Sweet Lobby in Capitol HIll.

Macarons and Will Ferrell

Rosa Loves… Macarons and Will Ferrell.

Up until this past weekend, I hadn’t watched any of the Twilight movies. While I have a fascination with zombies and aliens, vampires have never been my thing. Yes, I was first in line at the movie theater when Interview with the Vampire came out, but to be honest I only did it because of Brad Pitt. However, when I saw the video of Will Ferrell crying over the break up of KStew and RPatz, well, I got curious.

I discussed this matter with a friend who happens to love Twilight and she invited me over to watch the first movie at her place. I picked up some macarons from Tout de Sweet in Bethesda after running errands on Sunday and I headed over to my friend’s apartment. After the movie was over, I realized that vampires are still not my thing but I do understand why Will Ferrell was so upset over the whole scandal: they were in love! And I love you Will Ferrell!

So tell me, are you a fan of Twilight? Vampires? Will Ferrell? Macarons? Share in the comments.

If you haven’t seen the brilliant video I am referring to in this post, you must do it NOW: here’s the link.

And if you are curious as to what kind of macarons my friend and I snacked on while watching the movie, here’s a list of the flavors from top to bottom: red velvet, orange blossom, lavender, coconut, salted caramel, and green tea.

memorial day weekend

Rosa Loves… Sharing a few snapshots of Memorial Day weekend.

When I left the office on Friday afternoon, I was ready for a few days off. Besides dinner and a movie with my husband, I pretty much stayed at home, worked on a couple of projects and relaxed:

Photo #1: As I woke up on Saturday, I found a 4-pound dog staring at me very intensely. I had slept for about 12 hours due to lack of sleep the night before and I could tell that Lola was probably thinking “Oh good, you’re alive. FEED ME!”.

Photo #2: I wore this Forever 21 necklace non-stop this weekend. It’s the perfect statement necklace to wear with a simple t-shirt or a button down blouse. You can see how lovely Chloe of The Chloe Conspiracy styled it here.

Photo #3: I went through my closet and put together outfit ideas using the wonderful 2012 Trend Guide my friend Lani of Real Life Style recently gave me. I always love how she organizes all the trends in these fabulous guides: incredibly helpful and easy to follow. Thank you Lani!

Photo #4: After a very productive meeting with the folks of Thirst DC, I was hungry so I indulged on a couple of mini-macarons when I got home.

And that was my long weekend!
