pre-inauguration weekend

Rosa Loves… A Low Key Pre-Inauguration Weekend.

It’s Inauguration Day and there were a lot of events around the city in preparation for such an important occasion. However, I decided to have a pretty low key weekend for myself:

  • I treated myself to a fabulous bouquet of tulips after picking up some antibiotics for a sinus infection on Friday evening.
  • On Saturday, I met Alison of DC Celine and her adorable daughter for cupcakes at Frosting in Friendship Heights. We had a great chat about our love for sparkly things and upcoming projects.
  • I spent Sunday morning drinking a large cup of coffee in bed while planning my day and going over changes on a presentation for a project at work.
  • I met Rebecca, Nikki and Kelsey for a Pre-Inaugural lunch date at Edgar Bar & Kitchen at the Mayflower Hotel and I had a very tasty chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries.
That was my weekend and I would love to hear about yours so share in the comments.

Rosa Loves… Faux Fur, Leopard, and Sparkle.

The weekend went pretty fast. My main goal was to run errands and to get organized. Cleaning the apartment, reorganizing my closet, putting away holiday decorations, and taking my camera lens for repair were a few of the things on my to-do list. Nothing too exciting but it had to be done since we had just come back from our holiday trip. However, I was still able to have a quick lunch with a friend and for my outfit I picked a faux fur scarf, my favorite leopard sweater and a sparkly new accessory. I might had been running errands this weekend but at least I felt a little glamorous with the outfit I was wearing.

By the way, the bracelet is one of Sara’s latest finds at Forever 21. I saw it on her Instagram feed while I was on vacation and I knew it had to come and join my accessory collection. Here’s the link.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Rosa Loves… A very busy Saturday.

My Saturday was indeed busy. I had been struggling with a mild cold during the week but I was feeling much better by Saturday morning so I picked a comfortable outfit for all the activities I had planned.

I met my friend Sara for a quick lunch and to catch up after running a few errands in the morning. Kata joined us later for a styling session. We had so much fun putting outfits together and I must say that Carrie Bradshaw would be incredibly jealous of Sara’s closet. On our way to the Drewdrop DC clothing swap later that afternoon, Sara and I stopped to take some outfit photos in Dupont Circle. While we waited for the event to begin, I was able to briefly chat with other lovely blogger friends including Carmen, Ashley, and Erica. After the swap, we went to the Ulysses Room launch party which was hosted by The President Wears Prada, DeNada Design, and Kelly Towles. I just fell in love with the space, the art, and the beautiful DeNada scarves.

On the metro ride home, I thought about how wonderful it was to spend time with friends and to meet great people during my Saturday activities. It was a busy day but I loved it.

On the other hand, Lola had a very relaxing day at home. I snapped this photo of her while she was looking at a sock she had stolen from my fresh laundry earlier that morning. I think she was trying to decide between playing with that sock or taking a nap. She went with the nap and it was a very long one.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

In case you are interested in the J.Crew items featured in my outfit, both sweater and necklace are still available online.

Rosa Loves… Georgetown & Peach Pie.

Ashlyn and I decided to go for a walk and some shopping around Georgetown this past Labor Day weekend. After getting new stationery at the Paper Source and scoring great deals on polka dot scarves at J.Crew, we felt it was time for a snack and a cold drink, so we went to Pie Sisters. I got a peach mini pie and it was the perfect way to end our day. Oh and since we were nearby, we also went for a quick visit to The Exorcist steps.

memorial day weekend

Rosa Loves… Sharing a few snapshots of Memorial Day weekend.

When I left the office on Friday afternoon, I was ready for a few days off. Besides dinner and a movie with my husband, I pretty much stayed at home, worked on a couple of projects and relaxed:

Photo #1: As I woke up on Saturday, I found a 4-pound dog staring at me very intensely. I had slept for about 12 hours due to lack of sleep the night before and I could tell that Lola was probably thinking “Oh good, you’re alive. FEED ME!”.

Photo #2: I wore this Forever 21 necklace non-stop this weekend. It’s the perfect statement necklace to wear with a simple t-shirt or a button down blouse. You can see how lovely Chloe of The Chloe Conspiracy styled it here.

Photo #3: I went through my closet and put together outfit ideas using the wonderful 2012 Trend Guide my friend Lani of Real Life Style recently gave me. I always love how she organizes all the trends in these fabulous guides: incredibly helpful and easy to follow. Thank you Lani!

Photo #4: After a very productive meeting with the folks of Thirst DC, I was hungry so I indulged on a couple of mini-macarons when I got home.

And that was my long weekend!

happy weekend

Rosa Loves… The weekend!

My social agenda will be pretty full this weekend: a bridal shower, brunch, drinks with old friends, and dinner and a movie with my husband. On the other hand, Lola’s weekend will consist of multiple naps in her favorite spot on the couch :)

Enjoy the weekend!

Rosa Loves… A quiet weekend at home.

Towards the end of week, I came down with a sinus infection so that meant I had to change my plans for the weekend. But staying at home was great after the sinus headache was gone; I had some macarons to indulge on, magazines and catalogs to read, Pinterest boards to organize, and a doggie willing to take long naps with me. I also played around a bit with my camera and snapped some photos of my favorite muse and model. I have to say that Lola’s modeling portfolio is looking pretty strong.

Tell me about your weekend. Did you do anything fun in this beautiful weather?

Rosa Loves… To share a few snapshots of the weekend.
The weather in DC was again incredibly beautiful and that was kind of perfect because I had places to go and people to see:
I started my Saturday morning by having breakfast with Sara and Heather at LPQ in Dupont Circle. It was nice to chat with these ladies about what’s been going on in our lives and to exchange thoughts about upcoming projects. Can’t wait for our next ‘creative breakfast’ (I’m quoting Heather here).
My next stop was Neiman Marcus for the Financially Fit and Feeling Fabulous Event. The speakers included certified financial planner Rita Cheng, fitness trainer Ahmad Coston, health and lifestyle coach Diane Horn, and intimate apparel fit specialist, Cynthia Hanson. I loved Diane’s ideas for healthy snacks and I got super motivated to start running/walking even more after listening to Ahmad’s presentation. Also, Cynthia shared with the audience how she believes that finding the right intimate apparel can transform a woman’s silhouette and take off inches one’s waistline. Ladies, if you need to find the perfect fit, Cynthia is the person to go to, she’s amazing and incredible to work with.
On Sunday morning, after taking Lola for a long walk and doing some spring cleaning in my closet, I headed to a cake party. On my way to catch the bus, I saw some pretty tulips at the Farmers Market in Dupont Circle and I couldn’t resist leaving them behind.
Cake Party at Apollina’s! This lovely lady was working on some delicious cakes over the weekend and she invited some friends including Katalina and me to eat her baked goods. OMG, everything tasted so good. Amazing job Apollina!
And that was my weekend. Did you have a good weekend? Any fun activities? Share in the comments, I would love to hear what you were up to.
